Roy G. Vetterli

Roy G. Vetterli, age 96, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Roy was born on January 4, 1929 in Clarno Township, to Henry and Marie (Schwarzenberger) Vetterli. He grew up on the family farm and attended East Clarno School. He married Betty Kneubuehl on March 2, 1962. They shared 56 years together, raising two boys and many beloved pets until Betty’s passing in 2018.

After leaving the farm, Roy became a deputy and eventually sheriff of Green County. He then worked for many years at Moore Business Forms and also had a business climbing radio towers. In his free time, Roy enjoyed playing the drums in the Swiss Echoes band and hauling around the accordion for Betty. In retirement he delivered trucks for Monroe Truck Equipment and worked as “ground crew” for the tower business.

Roy is survived by his sons, Gary (Rita) of Monroe and Gene of Juda; granddaughters, Kirsten and Hannah of Sun Prairie; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Betty; and siblings, Hank, Paul, and Gertrude.

Per Roy’s wishes no services will be held. The family would like to thanks the staff of Pleasant View and New Glarus Home for all the comfort and care they gave to Roy these last four months.
