Robert F. “Bob” Keough

Robert F. “Bob” Keough, age 97 of Argyle, WI, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Monroe Health Services in Monroe, WI. He was born on December 13, 1926, on the home farm in rural Calamine to Robert and Lenore (Sullivan) Keough. He attended Meylor Country School through the eighth grade and continued his education, graduating from Darlington High School in 1944. He married Anna Jean McQuillen on April 2, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mineral Point, WI.
Bob and Anna farmed in Lafayette and Green counties before purchasing a farm near Monticello in 1972. Bob retired from farming in 1991 and worked at Argyle Industry until 2001.

Bob and Anna were active in the FFA Alumni and instrumental in chartering the Monticello FFA Alumni, and they helped reactivate the Argyle FFA Alumni. In 1993, Bob became a life member of the State and National FFA Alumni Association, serving as the Sectional Representative on the State council for 17 years, including the executive board and as President. He and Anna were recipients of the first VIP award from the Wisconsin FFA in 2014. Over the years, Bob received many awards from local, state, and national FFA Alumni. In addition to Bob’s FFA activity, he served as the Green County 4-H Leader’s President, was on the Wisconsin Livestock Breeders board, and was a member of the Darlington Saddle Club and Lafayette County Shamrock Club.

Bob was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Argyle and spent many years as the Sexton for St. Francis and Calvary Catholic Cemeteries in Argyle.

He is survived by his wife Anna, and six children, Gary (Carol), Colleen (Randy Lake), Ken, Mike (Lorri), Mary, and Bill (Holly) Keough. Brothers-in-law, Pat (Pacita) McQuillen and Peter (Ann) McQuillen. Eight grandchildren, Erin (Dan Southerington), Allison (Todd Michaelek), Tonia, Jamie, Kristen Keough, Jon (Heidi) Ledman, Dylan Ledman, and Ryan Ledman. Ten great-grandchildren, Robert and Zachary Southerington, Breanna (Calen) Livingston, Brooklyn, Bailey, Kaylee, and Rylan Eitler, Lily and Sawyer Pryce, and Mason and Emmett Ledman. Great-great-granddaughter, Pipper Livingston. Nephews, Bob and John (Gail) Reichling, nephew, Rob McQuillen, niece, Diana Lomarcan, and numerous great nephews, nieces, and cousins. For over sixty years, he enjoyed the fellowship of the Somer-R-set card club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lenore Keough; his parents-in-law, Vernon and Barbara McQuillen; sister, Lenore Keough Reichling, brother-in-law: Nick Reichling;  brother-in-law: Robert McQuillen, sister-in-law: Melanie McQuillen; nephew, Jerry Reichling; daughter-in-law, Donna Thill Keough; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ledman; and great-great-granddaughter, Harper Pryce.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Argyle. A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
