BRODHEAD – Richard Eugene Hale, age 88, passed away on May 16, 2021 while at his home.

Richard was born in Belleville, WI on January 1, 1933 the son of William and Lucille (Ethridge) Hale.

Richard was a South Wayne graduate and later served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1963. He married his first wife, Evalyn Reigle in 1953 and she passed away in 1994. He married his second wife, Nancy Lockwood in 1996 and she passed away in 2020.

Richard farmed in the South Wayne and Juda areas for many years. He worked for Swiss Colony for 13 years before his retirement. He enjoyed dancing, playing euchre at the card club, his Saturday breakfast club, fishing and spending time with his family at his cabin, the “Sugar Shack”. But most of all, Richard enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his 3 children, Terri Munz (Phil Welton), Michael (Judy) Hale and Kyle (Julie) Hale; 8 grandchildren, Eric Munz, Trisha (Mark) Wahl, Heather (Steve) Williams, Joe Hale (Molly Lange), Dan Hess, Carmen Hale, Crista Hale and Clayton Hale; 10 great grandchildren, 3 siblings, Nathalie Ruf, Jack (Mary) Hale and Wilma Wand and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his first and second wife, and a granddaughter in infancy, Kimberly Munz.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the Madison VA Hospital, Monroe Clinic Hospice or the Juda Fire Dept.

Private family services will be held at the DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead with burial to conclude at the Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Juda Community Center, N2350 County Hwy S in Juda, WI from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
