Richard “Dick” Howard Meske, 73, of South Wayne passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023 at the SSM Health Hospital in Monroe. He was born the son of Howard and June (Piepinburg) Meske on May 29, 1950, in Fort Atkinson. Dick graduated from Whitewater High School. He then went on to receive his BS and MS in Ag Education from the University of Platteville. On August 21, 1971, Dick married the love of his life, Judy McQuillen, in Whitewater.
Dick was first and foremost a child of God, and worked as an Agriculture Teacher at Black Hawk High School and serving as an FFA Advisor for 33 years. After his retirement he worked part-time as an engineer “Button Pusher” at Big Radio. He was a devoted member of Resurrection Lutheran Church; where he served as President and Council Member. His hobbies included playing cards online and watching the Packers, Badgers, and many other sports. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Robin (Tracy) Roudebush of Verona and Jeff (Jayne) Meske of Jefferson; grandchildren, Mindy (Dan) Pitzner, Emily Meske, and Haylee Meske; brother, Keith (Ellen) Meske of Jefferson; and sister, Joyce Hammel of Elkhorn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Resurrection Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Ewings and Pastor Paul Schupmann officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in South Wayne.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home. There will be a continued visitation held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Memorials can be given in Dick’s name to either Resurrection Lutheran Church or Black Hawk FFA.
