Mayona M. Johnson, 91, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on October 20, 1926 in Blanchardville, WI to Ernest and Myra (Million) Rear. She graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Merlin L Thompson on February 28, 1946 in Argyle. She was later united in marriage to Harland Johnson on October 1, 1974 in Las Vegas, NV.

Mayona worked at J.C. Penny in Monroe for 18 years before retiring. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose and the V.F.W Auxiliary. Mayona enjoyed dancing and playing cards.

She is survived by her four children, Ron (Debra) Thompson of Monroe; Rhonda (Gary) Rufenacht of Monroe; Rodger Thompson of Keller, TX; Renita (Pat) Coyle of Cross Plains; 12 grandchildren, Amanda (Tom) Ingwell, Amber (Peter) Thies, Michelle (Casey) Phillipps, Ryan Meinert, Kevin Meinert, Katlyn (Joe) Sergenian, Richard Thompson, Carrie Thompson, Corrie Gilbertson, Greg (Kris) Rufenacht, Jeff Rufenacht, and Mark (Kim) Rufenacht; brothers, Ronald (Loletia) Rear of Buena Vista, AK; David Rear of Oregon, WI and sister Carol Jean Mohns of Monroe. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two sons, Richard and Merlin in infancy; brother, Robert Rear; sisters, Marjorie Schwitz and Edith Severson. 

Memorial Services will be held at 12PM NOON on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at SHRINER HAGER GOHKE Funeral Home in Monroe with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
