Marvin G. Collins passed away September 25th, 2021 in Pueblo, Colorado.

Born on a Lafayette County farm in 1932 to Glen and Mabel (Browne) Collins, he attended Banner Elementary School and in 1950 graduated from Monroe High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electrician, receiving his Training at Great Lakes and Jacksonville, Florida. He was stationed at HTU-1, Pensacola, Florida as a Helicopter Electrician. He later was a Crew Member in MATS, stationed at Moffett Field Air Base in California where he flew to many Pacific Islands, Japan and Alaska. In June of 1954 he married his Wisconsin Girlfriend Gloria Kalis at Mountain View, California. Marvin was discharged in 1955 as an AE2 and returned to his Wife in Wisconsin where both then attended Wisconsin State college at Platteville, earning Bachelor’s Degrees.

Both attended Colorado State College in Greeley, CO where they earned their Masters Degrees.

Marvin was an Epsilon Pi Tau Member, Graduating with Honors in Industrial Arts Education.

In 1959, Marvin and Gloria with their 3-year-old son Lynn moved to Eureka, California where they had Teaching jobs waiting for them. He was inspired by Fine Woodworking and designed and helped build 2 lovely Homes he filled with beautiful Woodwork within. He also built Furniture, Wood Crosses, and later Hand-Turned Bowls for Art Shows. His handy-work is in many Homes and Churches.

Marvin served as Head of numerous Professional Organizations that included the Insulator Association of No. California. His Hobby of collecting quality Glass Insulators took him to National Shows and Swap Meets around the Country.  In 1989, after enjoying 30 years of teaching, they left their Ocean area and relocated to Pueblo West, Colorado where they were closer to Family.   

Marvin is survived by Gloria, his wife of 67 years, son Lynn (Nan) Collins of Howard, CO, granddaughter Teal Collins (Fiancé' Ian Gordon) of Ft. Collins, CO, and sisters: Dorothy (Orville) Swanson of Murray, KY and Marjorie (Alvin) Klentz of Leaf River, IL.as well as many nephews and nieces around the U.S.

Private Interment was held Wednesday, September 29th at Pikes Peak National Veterans cemetery at Colorado Springs, CO.

Marvin was an active Member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pueblo where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, October 13th, 2021.

In lieu of food or flowers, contributions honoring Marvin may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 University Circle, Pueblo, CO 81005.
