Lucille M. Guzman, age 90 of Monroe, died Sunday, July 15, 2018 at her home. Lucille was born on July 29, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Peter R. and Luella M. (Schmidt) Olson. She graduated from high school in Chicago and married Fabricio P. Guzman on December 19, 1952 in Chicago. Lucille worked as a printer operator for various companies including Bell Telephone, Bethel College, a private printing business, and Kemper Fire and Casualty. She enjoyed her time working as a student aide at Clay High School in South Bend, IN and teaching English as a second language through the Monroe Public Library. Lucille loved to play scrabble with her family and was an avid bird watcher and gardener. She has resided for the past 12 years in Monroe where she was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by five children, Ellen (Richard) Veirs, Jan (Dan) Breeden, all of IN, Dr. Luella Guzman (David Price) of CA, Fabricio P. (Anne) Guzman of MI, and Martha (Bruce) Breisath of Monroe; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and seven great- greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fabricio on May 1, 2005; a brother, Raymond Olson; and a sister, Thelma Stern.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Booth officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested in Lucille’s name to the United Methodist Church or the National Audubon Society. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.
