Kathie L. Mudgett, age 61, of Monticello died on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. She was born on December 15, 1958 in Columbus Ohio, the daughter of Rollin and Remona (Carroll) Dowell.

She was united in marriage to Paul Mudgett on September 15, 1979 in Lancaster, WI. She graduated from Lancaster High School, Southwest Tech in Fennimore, and Madison Cosmetology.

She was employed with Parkside Salon in Monroe for 25 years and later operated Kathie’s Salon in Monroe for 2 1/2 years.

She enjoyed camping, shopping, traveling, but her greatest joy was spending time with her granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband Paul Mudgett; mother, Remona Dowell of Fennimore, children: Allan (Cassie Aebly) Mudgett of Argyle, Andrew (Tracie Rear) Mudgett of Monroe, Melissa Mudgett of New Glarus; granddaughter, Natalee Ruegsegger of Monroe; brothers, Dean (Brenda) Dowell of Scales Mound, IL, Ted Dowell of Montfort; sisters, Sue Rappold of Dodgeville, Lois (Jeff Faust) Dowell of Boscobel, Candy Highland of Silverlake.

She was predeceased in death by her father, Rollin Dowell and a niece Aimee Dowell.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 6:00 pm at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME in Monroe, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, January 24th, from 3:00-6:00 pm at the funeral home with service to follow at 6:00 pm.
