June E. Chapman
June E. Chapman

June E. Chapman, age 91, of Monroe, passed away on October 29, 2020, after a brief illness. Her youngest daughter, Joni was by her side. She was born one of five children of Stanley and Alpha (Skattum) Field on December 14, 1928.

She graduated from Monroe High School in 1946 and went to Air Traffic Control School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She then moved back to Monroe and worked at Montgomery Ward, before marrying Paul Chapman of South Wayne June 13, 1948. They were happily married for 67 years until Paul’s passing.

June was all about family and time together. There were many trips to the American Legion cabin in northern Wisconsin and camping in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, in Wyoming.

June was always grateful to be a stay-at-home mom, and her children loved having her there when they got home from school. She was generous, always willing to help, supportive, loving, encouraging and compassionate. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A sense of humor was always part of her personality, as well as living life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alpha and Stanley Field; husband, Paul Chapman; brother, Arleigh Field and sisters, Judith Figi and Lois Elmer.

She is survived by her brother, Jim (Cinda) Field of Monroe, Wisconsin; 4 children: Becky (Mike) Winter of Orinda, California; Pam Beckstrom of Olney, Montana; Paul (Jill) Chapman, Jr. of Colbert, Washington and Joni (Rick Dowd) Chapman of Ashland, Wisconsin; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

A graveside celebration of life was delayed until July, 2021 because of Covid. It was attended by close family.
