Cynthia Jane Babler, age 72, passed away on Thursday, March 06, 2025 at her home in Monroe. She was born the daughter of Alvin and Winifred (Janke) Babler on December 17, 1952 in Monroe. She was a graduate of Monroe High School; she earned her Bachelor’s Degree from UW-Green Bay, and double majored at Loyola University of Chicago where she received her Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Bachelor’s of Science in psychology. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola.

 

Cynthia was united in marriage to John Ross Hamilton, Jr. on July 16, 1983 in Paya Lake, WI., and lived for many years on the northside of Chicago.   She was a Registered Nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago for many years. She was also a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. In life she was a member of Actors Equity Association, a dancer, teacher, business manager, executive assistant, operations manager, caregiver, Registered Nurse, ornamental gardener, tennis player, cross country skier, lover of the arts, a devoted spouse, and a staunch supporter of many humanitarian causes including Planned Parenthood, Doctors without Borders and the ACLU. All who enjoyed her friendship and companionship knew they had a friend who would go to bat for them whenever and wherever they needed.  She was always going, always doing. 

 

Cynthia is survived by her husband, John Ross Hamilton, Jr.; siblings, David (Janeen) Babler of Mt. Vernon, IA, Susan K. (Richard) Kreuzer of Phoenix, AZ, and Elizabeth A. Babler (Tim) Krause of Beloit, WI. And by Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces and Nephews, and Great Grand Nephews.

 

 Private family services will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Cynthia’s memory to the Blackhawk Technical College Foundation, 6004 S. County Rd. G, Janesville, WI 53546; please include a note to apply donations to the Wini Babler Scholarship Fund. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
