Alice M. Wyss, age 94 of Monroe, died Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Aster Retirement Community in Monroe. Alice was born on February 8, 1927 in Monroe, the daughter of Ludwig and Hilda (Ruef) Signer. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1943 and worked as a secretary at the Green County Courthouse for four years. Alice married Chet Wyss on February 15, 1947 at St. John’s Church in Monroe. The couple farmed in Monroe for several years before moving to their farm in Rock City, IL in 1954. Alice and Chet belonged to the International, Illinois, and Wisconsin Flying Farmer Chapters since 1960 with Alice holding many offices including Secretary Treasurer of the Wisconsin group for 15 years. She also held her landed license which made her proficient in airplane flight instruments. Alice was a member of St. Paul Church of Epleyanna, Davis IL, Freeport Home Extension, and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines. She had many hobbies including cooking, baking, country music, singing and playing guitar, yodeling, golfing, bowling, and word puzzles. Alice was also known as an excellent letter writer.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Chet Wyss of Monroe; two daughters, Sharon “Sherry” Regez (Gary Hanson) of Browntown, Annie (Dave) Silaggi of Galena, IL; daughter-in-law, Sue Wyss of Monroe; four grandchildren, Brad Phillips, Kim Ozee (Scot Shadle), Erika (Scott) Waterman, Dana (David) Herrick; seven greatgrandchildren, Trinity, Skyler, Hope, Falyn, Lilly, Hannah, Harper; six great greatgrandchildren; sister, Marian Kundert; and sister-in-law, Janice Wyss, both of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Curt Wyss; and brother-in-law, Jack Kundert.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna, Davis IL, with Pastor Scott Naevestad officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Masks will be required per State of Illinois mandates for indoor settings and gatherings.

Memorials are suggested in Alice’s name to St. Paul Church, Aster Retirement, or St. Croix Hospice.
