From Jeff Skatrud, Green County Sheriff:

York Township Residents Asked to Shelter in Place

Earlier this evening, the Green County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting that an adult male had allegedly fired a weapon at a family member at a residence on Hay Hollow Rd. in York Township during an apparent domestic dispute.  No one was reported injured during the initial incident.

The suspect, a 35 year old male, 5'7" tall with brown hair and reportedly wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, fled into a wooded area on foot in the vicinity of Hay Hollow and York Center Roads.  At this time, it is believed that the suspect is armed with a long gun and deputies and other area law enforcement agencies have set up a perimeter in the area and are planning a search.  Deputies believe that they have heard shots fired in the area in the last few minutes.

We are asking that residents in the Hay Hollow Rd., Badger Rd. and York Center Rd. areas lock their homes and shelter in place.  There will be heavy law enforcement activity in the area and the community will be notified by Nixle, Facebook and by news release when the suspect has been apprehended and the area secured.  The public should avoid the area.

York Township is located on the western border of Green County west of the Village of New Glarus.

The community will be updated as soon as there is additional information available.
