MILWAUKEE - Southeastern Wisconsin is digging out from its first significant snowfall of the season.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that as much as 5 inches fell from Saturday night through Sunday morning along a narrow band stretching from southern Rock County through Walworth County to Racine. Milwaukee got 1.5 inches while Waukesha got just under 2 inches. About an inch of snow fell on Monroe's west side.
Temperatures in southeastern Wisconsin are expected to remain well below normal for much of this week.
In Monroe, there's a 30 percent chance of snow showers this afternoon and flurries tonight and wind chill values could dip as low as minus 5 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The high today will be about 16.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high of 17 and wind chills as low as minus 10. A chance of snow returns Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. The high Wednesday will be 25, the NWS predicts.
