MONROE - Safe Kids Monroe Area, in partnership with the local Council of the Boy Scouts of America, will host a hands-on program to help educate children ages 6 through 10 about vehicle safety from noon until 1:30 p.m. today, Sept. 21 at Ruda Chevrolet/Toyota, 104 8th St.
Cub Scouts who attend the event must complete five interactive stations in order to earn their automotive safety patch. The program covers several aspects of safety, including proper safety belt/booster seat usage, preventing trunk entrapment, teaching families to never leave a child alone in a vehicle and how to contact OnStar in the event of an emergency.
The automotive safety patch program is way to promote a family-oriented automotive safety experience. The event is open to parents and siblings of the Scouts.
