What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?

I feel the top issue in the short term facing the district is educating the community about the financial position of the district as state funding reductions continue to take hold. Clearly communicating the financial needs of the district and the impact of changing legislation affecting our ability to properly fund the district will be key. Strengthening community support through communication is crucial in order to ensure that we can continue to innovate, add desired courses and curriculum, and in turn attract and retain great talent and families in Monroe.

The successful future of the City of Monroe, its businesses, citizens, and children are intertwined with the success of the School District. Our School District is a critical component of the fabric that makes this community strong and successful. We need to answer this call, as a community, to ensure the Monroe School District remains a strong and vibrant place for our children to learn, grow, and excel.

What are other key issues facing the district/municipality, and how would you work to resolve them?

Recruitment and retention of talented individuals will be an ongoing issue. A key contributor to ensuring the strength of our district is the recruitment and retention of amazing educators and administrators. Competition for the most talented and effective staff is fierce and the district does, and will continue to, face challenges filling and retaining positions. Our dedicated and hard working educators are the backbone of our schools and their tireless work and self sacrifice is the reason for our children's continued successes. Our district is filled with great educators and administrators and our goal should be to help ensure that tradition of excellence continues.
