DARLINGTON - Timmy J. Reichling has pleaded not guilty to all 11 felony counts alleging he sexually exploited a teen girl to make child porn.
The 46-year-old Darlington man entered his pleas in Lafayette County Circuit Court at his arraignment Tuesday, Sept. 24. He remains jailed on a $1 million bail for three Class C felony counts of child sexual exploitation, three Class I felony counts of being a registered sex offender photographing a minor without consent, and five Class D felony counts of possessing child pornography.
Reichling's public defender, Frank Medina, also filed a motion asking for a substitution of Lafayette County's only judge, William Johnston.
Johnston granted the request. Further proceedings are on hold until a replacement judge is found to hear the case. Johnston has been substituted in several major cases in Lafayette County in the past year, including the homicide cases of Jaren Kuester and Armin and Jeremy Wand.
Medina said after Tuesday's hearing his next step will be to review the case to see if all evidence was collected legally. If not, he said he may file motions to have evidence suppressed.
The criminal complaint alleges Reichling posed as a teen boy on Facebook and elsewhere online in recent years using various fake names, including Nathan Solman, Erich Riech and Adrian Connor, and solicited at least one local girl for hundreds of naked photos and a sex video.
State agents report finding about 300 photos of her in a collection of child porn that totaled several million images, seized from Reichling's home in the W14000 block of County F.
Police suspect there are other victims not yet identified and are seeking tips from the public in an ongoing investigation of Reichling.
