MONROE - Riley Ann, a 2003 Monroe High School graduate and a former high school English teacher, is a storyteller through song, and she's sharing her stories in a big way this spring. Spanning five states in three weeks, she's taking her songs on the road, including a show at the Monroe Theatre Guild from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The show is free and open to the public, and donations will be accepted at the door.
Riley Ann is an anomaly in the music scene. With a background in old-time folk and an interest in rock music, she has developed a sound truly her own. As a multi-instrumentalist, she provides a diverse show, playing fiddle, electric and acoustic guitars, banjo, saxophone, and percussion, as well as doing live looping. Samples from her debut album "Endless Beginnings" can be found on her website at www.rileyannsound.com as well as Spotify, iTunes and Amazon.
Before the concert Tuesday, Riley Ann is giving high school students a preview of the show as well as sharing insights regarding songwriting, high school band and following one's passion in life.
Celebrating her recent sponsorship by litographs.com, Riley Ann will be featuring her Litographs shirt themed after Kate Chopin's novel "The Awakening" throughout the tour. In honor of the tour, Litographs is offering a 10 percent discount on its website with the use of promo code "rileyann" through the end of April. Fans also have a chance to win her Litographs shirt by signing up for her email list either at a show or via her website.
Riley Ann is the daughter of Gene Schultz and Kim Remley, both of Monroe. More information about Riley Ann, her tour, her tiny home and more can be found at www.rileyannsound.com as well as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
