MONROE - Longtime sports reporter Mark Nesbitt has been named senior sports reporter for the Monroe Times.
Nesbitt has worked for the Times for nine years, also covering feature stories and the Monroe school board.
Prior to that, he was a fifth-grade teacher for two years. His journalism career started while working for Capital Newspapers at the Sauk Prairie Eagle in Sauk City for four years as a sports and news reporter.
Nesbitt has a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Illinois State University.
For enjoyment, Nesbitt has interests in fantasy football, fantasy baseball and watching and cheering on his daughter, Kayleigh, in basketball games, swim meets and soccer games.
Nesbitt is a Sterling, Illinois, native and is married to his wife, Anna, a third-grade teacher at Taylor Park Elementary School in Freeport. They reside in Monroe.
