TOWN OF SPRING GROVE - A 52-year-old rural Monroe man, Donald E. Ormond, was killed Tuesday night, June 12 in a motorcycle accident involving a car and an SUV.

The accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Wisconsin 11 at the intersection of County G in the Town of Spring Grove.

According to the Green County Sheriff's Department, Hipolito Rogue Pascual, 44, of Brodhead was driving a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville westbound on Wis. 11. Charlotte J. Walters, 70, of Milton was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on Wis. 11 then struck the operator and the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to catch fire and killing the motorcyclist.

Ormond was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County coroner.

Walters' passengers were Hailey R. Walters, 18, of Milton and Barbara E. Paul, 70, of Janesville.

No other injuries were reported. Ormond was wearing a helmet.

The motorcycle sustained very severe damage; the Pascual's vehicle had moderate damage while Walters' vehicle had severe damage.

Deputies said failure to yield the right of way was a contributing factor in the fatal crash but the accident is under investigation. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

The accident is Green County's fifth traffic fatality of 2012.

Green County deputies, Brodhead Fire and EMS, Juda Fire, Green County EMS and the Wisconsin State Patrol reconstruction team responded to the scene.
