MONROE - Two Monroe residents were arrested and charged Tuesday with conspiracy to distribute cocaine after police searched their residences in connection with a drug trafficking investigation.

Elias Perez Barrios, 32, and Patricio Martinez, 33, were arrested after police executed search warrants at their homes, located at two trailer parks in the 1700 blocks of 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue.

Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley said the arrests were the result of a months-long investigation into drug trafficking in the area. The investigation was conducted by the State Line Area Narcotics Team, with participation from the Monroe Police, the Green County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

The case remains under investigation.
