Kim Brown Pokorny: Executive director of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association
MADISON - Kim Brown Pokorny has been selected as the next executive director of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association.

"Ms. Brown Pokorny comes into this position with an impressive resume and extensive experience with animal science and agriculture," WVMA President Ray Pawlisch, DVM, MS, said. "We believe that her numerous talents and strong work ethics will help the WVMA continue serving the needs of its veterinary members and the public."

Brown Pokorny received her masters degree in agricultural industries and her bachelors in animal science, with a minor in agricultural economics, from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She is a graduate of Monroe High School.

For the past eight years, she has worked for the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW) as the program manager. Prior to that position, Brown Pokorny worked for Morgan&Myers, a public relations firm representing the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.

"As an organization, the WVMA needs to be able to embrace change proactively, and understand how it fits into the larger picture of the animal industry - whether it's companion or production animals," Brown Pokorny said. "To do so, the WVMA and the veterinary profession must continue building relationships with traditional and non-traditional audiences, including consumers, educators, clients and the media."

Brown Pokorny will take the place of Leslie Grendahl, who held the position for nearly 21 years. The Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association was founded in 1915. It serves nearly 2,200 member veterinarians.
