MADISON - The U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service announced the schedule for Local Working Group meetings for 2014. Meetings will be held across Wisconsin this summer to gather input and help make recommendations and set priorities for USDA conservation programs under the new farm bill.
Green County is part of the Driftless End Moraine Working Group, which also includes Rock and Dane counties. The Driftless End Moraine meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. July 23 at the Brooklyn Community Center.
These counties are connected by geography, similar land use, resources and type of agriculture. Combining into multi-county groups allows for a larger pool of funds for priority practices and more consistency across county lines with similar resource needs.
Local Working Group meetings are open to the public.
For more information, contact the Green County NRCS District Conservationist at 608-325-4195 or visit www.nrcs.usda.gov/wps/portal/nrcs/main/wi/newsroom/pnotice.
