TOWN OF LIMA — A 20-month-old boy was seriously injured in a farm accident Tuesday evening.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, James Zimmerman was working in the barn on Union Road around 7 p.m. when he turned to shut off a conveyor. When Zimmerman did, the boy fell into the conveyor.

The boy suffered serious injuries to his right arm, hand and shoulder, chest and left hand. 

A sheriff’s deputy and Southwest Health EMS stabilized the boy for air transport. The boy was taken by Med-Flight helicopter to UW Hospital in Madison. The Platteville Fire Department set up a landing zone for the helicopter.

The sheriff’s office determined the fall was accidental.
