MONROE - Making a special appearance at the Green County Cheese Days festival will be Mr. Jelly Belly of the Jelly Belly Candy Company.
The Jelly Belly Candy Company teamed up with The Swiss Colony Bakery at Colony Brands in production of a special line of petits fours dubbed Jelly Belly Cake Bites. The mini cakes, featuring fruity flavors, are layered with butter crÃ-me to match the gourmet bean on top. The cakes are packaged in cute boxes featuring a bean-shaped window. Cheese Days guests can meet Mr. Jelly Belly during the "Colony Brands Spotlight" in the Hospitality Tent, sponsored by Colony Brands, from 11 to 11:45 am. Sept. 20. Those who visit the tent will also have the opportunity to taste the mini cakes and receive fun prizes from Colony Brands' mascot, Chris Mouse. The Jelly Belly car will also be on display downtown nearby the Colony Brands tent on Sept. 20, and Mr. Jelly Belly and car will appear in The Swiss Colony Cheese Days Parade on Sept. 21.
Mr. Jelly Belly first appeared in 1983, with one of his first duties being participation in the White House Easter Egg Roll.
