Honor Flight
Bernie “Benny” Statz

Bernie “Benny” Statz, Monroe, recently participated in the Badger Honor Flight on May 18. He chose his daughter, Gayla Statz Schultz as his required guardian for the trip.

Statz served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. Statz and his daughter had a fun, unforgettable day. Receptions to and from the airports were grand experiences. Their day consisted of visiting Arlington National Cemetery where they observed the change of the guards and wreaths, Air Force Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, World War II Memorial, Marine Corps/Iwo Jima Memorial and 911 Memorial at the Pentagon.

On the way home was “mail call” with all of the special cards and letters from lots of wonderful people that were given to Statz.
