Green County Historical Society seeks board members

MONROE - The Green County Historical Society is seeking individuals who are interested in serving on its board of directors.

The board members are elected by the membership of the Historical Society at the annual meeting in June and serve a two-year term. At the end of the term, individuals may re-apply for nomination.

The board consists of 10 members who are elected by the membership and one member who is a member of the Monroe Common Council Five members are elected in the even years with the other five members being elected in the odd years.

The board of directors serves as the governing body of the Green County Historical Society. The main mission of the organization is to collect, preserve and make available to the public items, photos and knowledge that are deemed historic and relate to Green County or its residents. Individuals who are interested in the preservation of the history of Green County are encouraged to apply.

Board meetings are currently held at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month.
