Green County Historical Society: Clarno general store

Photo supplied by the Green County Historical Society
Sylvia Frautschy sits on a log in front of the general store in Clarno with a portion of the railroad depot shown on the left. Her parents, Jake and Emma Frautschy, operated the store in the early 1900s before Sylvia and her husband, Clarence "Dutch" Herbert, took over. When Herbert's health failed, Red and Esther Rhyner took over and operated the store until it closed in 1980. Green County Historical Society is interested in making copies of interesting photos from the county. If you have any that you would allow a volunteer to scan, please contact Matt Figi at 608-325-6503 or mfigi48@tds.net.
