MONROE - The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the population of Green County has increased by only 339 people since 2010.
According to the bureau's population data, Green County's population stood at 37,186 people as of July 1, 2015, an increase of only 113 - or .3 percent - from its population in 2014.
The population of Lafayette County has also largely remained the same since 2010. Lafayette's 2015 population of 16,829 is smaller than 2010's population by seven people.
Dane County's population growth was the highest in the state, rising by 1.3 percent between 2014 and 2015 to reach 523,643. The next-highest increase was in Menominee County, which increased by 0.9 percent.
Few counties with populations comparable to Green's or Lafayette's reported significant changes since 2010.
Most counties with populations less than 50,000 have seen varying degrees of population decrease, with some exceptions. Menominee County, Wisconsin's second-least populous county, increased in population by 308 since 2010 (bringing its total to 4,573 in 2015), while the third-least populous county, Iron County, diminished by 100 people since 2010.
