Gill sworn in as Lafayette judge

DARLINGTON — Lafayette County District Attorney Jenna Gill officially moved across the bench on Monday, Aug. 5, taking the oath of office and becoming Lafayette County Circuit Court Judge.

Gill was appointed as the first female judge in Lafayette County history by Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers back on June 14. She takes over for the late Duane M. Jorgenson, who died earlier this year.

Gill will complete a term ending July 31, 2025.

“I am humbled and deeply honored to accept the appointment to be likely the first female Lafayette County Circuit Court Judge,” Gill said in the statement immediately following her appointment. “I am extremely grateful for the encouragement and support of my legal community, friends, and family. I remain committed to exemplifying the values our community holds while ensuring a fair and efficient court system as I continue to serve the people of Lafayette County.”

Gill was born and raised in Lafayette County and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the William Mitchell College of Law. Since January 2017, Gill has been the district attorney for Lafayette County.
