MADISON - Gempeler's Supermarket, Monticello, was recognized at the 75th annual convention of the Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors, held April 4 through 6.
At the Meat Product Show, held in conjunction with that meeting, Gempeler's Supermarket received the following awards: Reserve Grand Champion in the Cured and Smoked Poultry class for the company's smoked whole turkey product; Champion for the ring liver sausage in the Ring Liver Sausage category; and Reserve Champion for kalberwurst (veal sausage) in the Fresh Dinner Sausage category.
The Wisconsin Meat Product Competition is the largest of its kind in the United States. Individual products were scored for external appearance and eye appeal, internal appearance, aroma and taste, using a scale of 1,000 points.
