Town of Clarno – On Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 8:22 a.m., the Green County Sheriff’s Office – Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a silo collapsed on a person in the N1500 block of Clarno Road, rural Monroe.  Monroe Rural Fire Department, Green County EMS and deputies responded to the scene.  

Preliminary investigation determined a 50-year-old Green County man was in the process of taking the silo down when it partially collapsed, trapping him. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Green County Coroners Office.  

Investigation by the Sheriff’s Office – Detective Bureau is ongoing and the name is being withheld at this time.

Accident victim ID’d as 50-year-old from rural Monroe

MONROE — Authorities have identified the victim in a Feb. 21 Green County farm fatality.

Alan K. Prien, 50, of rural Monroe, was named the victim of the incident, in which a silo apparently collapsed during some type of work being done at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Feb. 22, Chief Deputy Cody Kanable confirmed the man’s identity and that his office continues to investigate the fatality. An obituary for Prien appears on page A2 of today’s edition.

The initial call came just after 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21. A 911 caller reported a silo collapsed on a person in the N1500 block of Clarno Road, in rural Monroe, according to a sheriff’s office statement.

Monroe Rural Fire Department, Green County EMS and deputies were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Preliminary investigation determined a 50-year-old Green County man was in the process of taking the silo down when it partially collapsed, trapping him,” authorities said in their statement. “The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office.”
