MONROE - Due to extreme cold weather expected over the next few days, Green County Emergency Management has coordinated with several communities to provide emergency warming centers.
The centers will be available from 5 p.m. today through noon on Friday. Anyone who needs this assistance, or knows someone who does, should call the Green County Crisis Hotline at 888-552-6642; United Way 211; local police department; or the Green County Sheriff's Office at 608-328-9400.
These centers are meant as a place for people to come and warm up only; food and other amenities are not provided. They are not intended as overnight shelter.
Today's low is expected to dip to -3 degrees. Sunday's low is forecast to be
-9 with a high of 0. On Monday, temperatures will notch up to a high of 4 with a low of -6.
The rest of week is expected to remain cold but above the zero mark: Tuesday's high will be 12 with a low of 7, while Wednesday and Thursday will have highs in the 20s and low temperatures in the teens.
