Willis (Bill) Legler passed away January 18, 2011 at home with his wife at his side. He was born February 11, 1920 in Darlington Wisconsin to John and Emma (Zurfluh) Legler.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 50 years Audrey (Butteris) Legler; his children: Bob Legler of Portales, NM, Paul (Gretchen) Legler of Portales, NM; Jo Ann (Mike) Meudt of Dodgeville, WI; Fran (Greg) Fritch of Ridgeway, WI; and Heidi (Greg) Lindner of Highland, Wisconsin; 13 loved grandchildren and 8 great children; his siblings Raymond Legler of Orlando, FL and Ruth (Rodger) Willing of Beloit, WI; sister-in-laws: Annibelle Aide of Highland, WI, Alyce Stapleton of Linden WI, Ruth Legler of South Wayne WI, Agnes Legler of Monroe, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Ralph, Clarence, Harold, Bert, and Lloyd.

Bill enjoyed a life of hard work, good friends, and storytelling. During his life he worked at various farms, logging, trucking, and helping with his father's store - the Pleasant Ridge Store. Bill farmed for several years in Dayton, WI and was a salesman for Mac Tools. Throughout his life he was well known and respected for his good humor and honesty. After retirement, Bill delighted in assisting his wife Audrey in their daycare. Bill was an avid reader and enjoyed learning. He played cards all his life, teaching generations to play euchre, rummy, and yoss.

Services were held Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 327 N. Iowa St., Dodgeville, WI. Followed by burial at Eastside Cemetery, Dodgeville, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
