MONROE - William H. Lysser joined his beloved wife of 62 years, passing away peacefully on May 29, 2008, at age 84 with his loving family at is bedside.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at St. John's United Church of Christ, in Monroe, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A memorial service for William will follow at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at the church. Inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, WI.
William H. Lysser was born on July 1, 1923, in Monroe, WI to the late John and Anna (Altmann) Lysser. On June 10, 1946 he was united in marriage with Mary Lane Lenacher in Dubuque, Iowa.
He graduated from Monroe High School in 1941 and entered service. Before retiring he worked for the Monroe Swiss Colony. Bill and his wife Mary Lane lived most of their married life along with raising two children in Monroe. After becoming Arizona Sun-birds they moved there for fifteen years and recently returned to Wisconsin. Bill loved Monroe Cheese Days and could often be found volunteering in one place or another, helping out where needed.
William served in the armed forces and was a member of the American Legion.
When living in Monroe, he was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and often spoke of singing in the Sanctuary Choir there with his wife. He was a devoted family man who cared deeply for his children. He enjoyed dancing and he and his wife Mary Lane danced well into their retirement years. While living in Paradise Park in Arizona he actively helped others, assisting with events, attending costume parties, and dancing. He continued to be both an avid Green Bay Packer and Badger fan.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Vikki Lane (Thomas) Kunstman, Beaver Dam; a grandson, Jonathan William Kunstman, Tallahassee, FL; a brother, Erwin Lysser, Macomb, IL; a sister, Alice Jones, Georgia; a nephew, Mike Jones, Georgia; and nieces, Margaret Ann Parisien, Traverse City, MI, Kathy Nall, and Jan Barry, Fort Collins, CO, and Bonnie Thompson, Argyle, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gertrude Barry; a niece, Carolyn Jones; his beloved son, David; and his wife, Mary Lane, on March 22, 2008.
