William "Buster" Baxter

BRODHEAD - Wilbur "Buster" Baxter, age 69, of Brodhead, WI, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at home after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 31, 1938 in Rockford, IL, the son of Maynard and Alma (Molzahn) Baxter. Buster and Phyllis Beck were married on February 22, 1957 in Rockford, IL

During his career he worked as a sheet metal worker in Rockford, IL, farmed and owned his own business. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart. His hobbies included restoring antique tractors, golfing and creating copper sprinklers and spinners. He also attended the Church of the Nazarene, Brodhead.

Buster is survived by the love of his life, Phyllis (Beck) Baxter and five children: Jody (Randy) Menzel of Brodhead, Mindy (Gary) Earleywine of Charlotte, NC, Bryan (Nancy) Baxter of McFarland, David (Sally) Baxter and Greg (Kim) Baxter of Brodhead; nine grandchildren: Adam (Erin) Menzel, Angie (Jeremy) Arn, Paige, Brent, Erica, Brielle, Kayla and Cason Baxter of Brodhead and Alex Baxter of McFarland; and two great-grandchildren: Ciara and Hannah Menzel of Brodhead. He is also survived by two brothers, Roger "Skeeter" (Bunni) of Rockford, Jeff (Kemi) of Cherry Valley, IL and one sister, Judy (Ben) Evans of Bull Shoals, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday June 30, 2008, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead with Pastor Dave Krohn officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 29 , 2008 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead.

A memorial fund will be established for the Church of the Nazarene in Brodhead.
