Viola A. von Arx, age 85, of Monroe, died on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at University Hospital in Madison. She was born on April 17, 1928 the daughter of John and Rosina (Becker) von Arx in Monroe. Viola was a 1946 graduate of Monroe High School.

Viola was employed at SW Woolworth, Co. and F.S. Green-Rock Coop.

She was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe.

She is survived by sister, Ruth L. von Arx of Monroe, sister-in-law, Ruth H. von Arx of Monroe; nieces, Libby (Archie) Anglin-Hale of Monroe, Dorothea von Arx of New Glarus; nephews, Virgil (Virginia) von Arx of San Diego, CA, Jim von Arx of Monticello; also numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers, Robert and Carl von Arx; nephew, Kenneth von Arx and a great nephew, Joshua von Arx.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, Monroe with Rev. Randy Booth of the Monroe United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home
