Dr. Vasudev M. Patel age 62 of Monroe, Wisconsin died on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born July 5, 1950 in Limbasi, India the son of Manibhai and Manibhen Patel. Vasudev graduated from M.S. University in Baroda, India; residency, VA East in Orange, New Jersey, Jewish Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and UMDNJ in Trenton, New Jersey.

Vasudev and Bhavana Patel were married on May 31, 1975.

He joined the medical staff of St. Clare Hospital (later Monroe Clinic) in 1984 where he has provided anesthesia, acupuncture, and pain management services across three decades. Dr. Patel was an active member of the Green County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and a past member of the Monroe Clinic Board of Directors and the Monroe Medical Foundation.

He was a founding member of Vaishnav Samaj of Midwest Chicago, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Bhavana Patel, of Monroe; son, Dr. Ravi Patel of Iowa City, IA, daughter, Ami Patel of Columbia, MO; sisters, Dharmista and Madhubhen.

Visitation will be from 11:00 - 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr., and 18th Avenue in Monroe. Private services will follow.

Dr. Patel was universally loved by his patients and admired by his colleagues. If there is one word that capture's his essence it is "beloved." Everyone loved him from the surgeons he worked with to the people who changed the light bulbs. He was a doctor's doctor of the classic kind and a deeply religious person and a devoted family man.

A memorial fund will be established in Dr. Patel's memory, to continue his charitable work.
