Stephen L. Schwartz, age 62, of Monroe, died on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Monroe. He was born on May 9, 1951 in Monroe, the son of Robert and Vivian (Andrews) Schwartz. Stephen was a 1970 graduate of Monroe High School.
Stephen entered the U.S. Army on July 28, 1970 at Milwaukee, WI; as a Medical Corpsman, he was discharged on July 26, 1973 as SP 4 at Oakland, CA; he received the National Defense Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge.
Stephen was employed at the Swiss Colony for many years. He was an antique collector and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his father, Robert Schwartz; step-father, Robert Ethridge; brother, Larry (Pat) Schwartz; step-sister, Patty (Art) Marty; nieces, Michele Vind and Marci (Tom) Drenzek; godson, Neal Zweifel and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Ethridge and step-mother, Joyce Schwartz.
Memorial services will be Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home with Pastors Patty Marty and Mary Gafner co-officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, with military graveside services accorded.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
