Brodhead - S. Edward Kuhse, age 81, of Brodhead, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead, WI, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 23, 1934 in Jo Daviess County, IL, the son of August and Doris (Russell) Kuhse. He marred Dorothy Lapp on September 20, 1959 in Lena, IL.
Ed served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59, with one year in occupied Berlin and 2 years active reserves. Ed worked for 36 years for the Green Rock FS. He was a life long farmer and purchased his own farm in 1962 in Spring Valley Township. Nothing made him happier than to be out on a tractor and caring for his animals.
Ed is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Steven and Michael, both of Brodhead; a daughter, Amy (Darrell) Faldet, Edgerton, WI; beloved granddaughter, Hailey Everson, Edgerton; a brother, Lynn (Shirley) Kuhse, McConnell, IL, special God-daughter and niece, Christine Williams, Pearl City, IL, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Calvin (Phylis) Kuhse, Dennis Kuhse; a sister, Marlene (Wayne) Brubaker, a grandson, Jeremy Kuhse, and two nephews, Tony and Nick Kuhse.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Rev. Russ Doebler officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, WI. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of services. A memorial fund will be established.
