WARREN - Robert Eugene Trost, 85 of Warren, Illinois, passed away on February 2, 2008 at the Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, in Darlington, Wisconsin.

Born in Stockton Township, Jo Daviess County, Illinois on April 28, 1922, the son of Alva and Dorothy (Stevens) Trost. On February 11, 1942 he married Thelma Baley in Lena, Illinois. In November of that year he was drafted into the United States Army. He was a member of the 104th Infantry Division known as the Timberwolves. He served in the European Theater until the end of the War. He was a proud member of the National Timberwolves Association. Bob was a member of the Warren American Legion, Wickler-Copeland Post 464 and the Gratiot V.F.W. and also a member of the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans). He was the fourth generation livestock and feeder pig dealer in JoDaviess County, Illinois.

Surviving him is his daughter, Nancy (Monte) Grebner of Warren, Illinois, and son, Tom (Ruby) Trost of Capitan, New Mexico; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Darryl Trost of Warren, and Wayne Trost of Elizabeth, Illinois.

His parents, his wife, Thelma on December 25, 2007 and a grandson, Stormy Trost, preceded him in death.

A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home, Warren, Illinois.

American Legion will officiate a short service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cremation rites were accorded and there will be no funeral service.

Burial will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established in his name.
