MONROE - The Green County Sheriff's Department was called to investigate a minor police vehicle accident that happened around 2 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Heritage House, W5836 Old Argyle Road.

Officer Christian S. Hammel, 25, Monroe, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala police patrol car while conducting a security check at the property.

The vehicle collided with the guide cable of a power pole situated "in an odd location" in the parking lot, according to a Monroe Police Department press release. The police report Hammel did not see the cable.

The collision shook the power pole, which caused a power outage at the Heritage House. The building's owner and Alliant Energy were contacted, and power was restored a short time later.
