Naida J. Johnson, age 75 of Monroe, Wisconsin, formerly of Darlington, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at U.W. Hospitals in Madison. She was born January 23, 1933 in Darlington, the daughter of Arthur and Mayetta (Homb) Troy. She grew up in Darlington and attended Darlington Public Schools.

Naida and Samuel Roelli were married on February 1, 1950 at the United Church of Christ in Darlington and moved to Hazel Green. She later moved to Martintown where she and her husband made cheese until 1964. She moved to a farm in South Wayne and drove school bus for the Black Hawk school district for several years. She married Robert D. "Bob" Johnson on November 29, 1968 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa, and they moved to Monroe in 1972 where she worked at the Swiss Colony for many years retiring in 1995. Naida was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe, Order of Eastern Star, enjoyed playing cards, her horses, her Samoyed dogs, ceramic painting, dancing, her flowers, and riding motorcycle with her husband. She loved her family and friends, will be sadly missed by all, and by her special friend, Sherrie Johnson.

Surviving are her husband, Bob Johnson and daughter, Sandra (Dick) Zuelke, both of Monroe; sister, Ardith Kundert and aunt, Clara McCarthy, both of Darlington; step-children, Victoria (Wayne) Broge, Laurie (Tom) Chellvoeld, Mary Jo Townsend, Michael (Theresa) Johnson; step-grandsons, Paul and Jesse Zuelke; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband, Sam; her parents; and step-children, Tamara and Gary Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2008 at St. JOHN'S UNITED CHURCH of CHRIST in Monroe with Rev. William T. Mike Heath officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington, WI.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME in Monroe.

A memorial fund is being established in Naida's memory.
