BRODHEAD - Myrtle "Faye" Kasermann, age 97, of Brodhead, was called home on Friday, August 2, 2013. She was born on November 26, 1915 in Brooklyn, WI, the second born child of Earnest W. and Bertha (Feten) Ringhand. She married Werner Kasermann on November 29, 1963 in Evansville, WI. He passed away on July 5, 1992. They had no children.
A life-long Methodist, she joined the United Methodist Church of Brodhead following their marriage.
Faye went to work in Madison as a food service employee at Madison General Hospital in 1934. She worked there for about seven years before going to work at the University of Wisconsin in the same capacity. She retired from the UW following her marriage to Werner. Myrtle and Werner lived in Brodhead for the remainder of their lives. She was very active in the church, volunteered for the Red Cross, was a former member of Eastern Star, and loved UW sports.
She is survived by three nephews, Norman Ringhand of Colorado, David Christensen of Georgia, Ronald Ringhand of Ohio; two nieces, Anne Christensen and Shirley "Gaye" Knudsen, both of Madison, WI and several nieces and nephews in Switzerland on her husband's side. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, LaVerne and Lee Ringhand, a sister, Evelyn Christensen, and two nieces, Susan Vines and Kathryn Strong.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, with Rev. Ellis "Hap" Itson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville, WI. Visitation will be held from 11 a .m., Wednesday, until time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to Monroe Clinic Hospice or the United Methodist Church of Brodhead. The D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead, is assisting the family.
