Mayme Berniece Hanson, age 95 of the New Glarus Home, formerly of Blanchardville died on Friday morning, August 28, 2015 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born in Lafayette County, Wisconsin on April 22, 1920 to John and Velma (Larson) Ingwell. She grew up on the farm her parents ran with her 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Mayme attended the Plain View rural school in rural Blanchardville. She worked growing up on the family farm milking, and in the house cooking and helping her mother. Mayme was married on February 18, 1939 in Dubuque to Myron Clifford Hanson with Myron's brother Chester and Fern Hanson as attendants. Mayme and Myron farmed in Lafayette and Green Counties in the Blanchardville-Argyle area for 40 years, and then retired and moved to Blanchardville in 1979. Mayme enjoyed cooking at the Norseman Supper Club in Argyle, and then for years at the Black Oak Inn in Blanchardville. Mayme loved family gatherings, baking, embroidering, flowers and most of all family, grandchildren and friends. She was a member of the Adams Lutheran Church and Women of the ELCA, the Sons of Norway in Mount Horeb, and the Adams Homemakers Group, through which she served as the president of the Green County Homemakers Group in 1976.

Mayme is survived by three children, Ralph Hanson of Monroe, Dorothy (Donald) Dammen of Argyle, and James (Barbara) Hanson of New Glarus and also traveling in their RV all year; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Dimpfl of Barneveld; one brother, Phillip (Betty) Ingwell of Madison; a daughter-in-law, Cathrine Hanson of Monroe; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, JoAnn Kainz who helped her for many years. Mayme was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Myron who died on November 24, 1991, her daughter Darlene who died on April 10, 2004; her son Bruce who died on June 24, 2010; four sisters, Gladys as a child, Venora Killian, Inez Gilbertson, and Esther McMahan; one brother, Lawrence Ingwell; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Hanson who died on September 13, 2014.

A visitation for Mayme Hanson will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Adams Lutheran Church. Rev. Rick Fry will officiate. Burial will be in the Yellowstone Cemetery in rural Blanchardville. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
