DENVER, Colo. - Mary Margaret Helmeid, age 79, died peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2018, in Denver, CO. She was born on January 16, 1939. Her childhood was spent in Darlington, WI. She raised her 3 children: Augie, Debby, and Jody Bruehlman in Darlington and South Wayne before moving to Janesville after her marriage to Don Helmeid on August 25, 1978. Don preceded her in death on February 21, 2014. Mary (Babe) dearly loved her family, Country music, Bluegrass music, reading and gambling. She enjoyed both scratch off tickets and going to the casino. Her favorite times revolved around good company and sharing time with friends and neighbors.

Mary is survived by her son, Dr. August (Maggie) Bruehlman of Chadron, NE; 2 daughters, Deb (Duane Thompson) Bruehlman of Aurora, CO, and Jody (Stan) Welton of Evergreen, CO; step-daughter, Sheri Helmeid of Tomah; 7 grandchildren: Amanda (Eric) Adams, Adam (Jenny) Welton, Melanie (Geoff) Reeves, Tim (Sammi Harding) Welton, Heather Helmeid, Madison Federici and Harley Federici; 8 great grandchildren: Selina, Serafina, Hazel, Thatcher, Beryl, Dakota, Deseray, and Riley; 3 brothers: Ken (Gail) Kendall, of Madison, Bob (Jean) Kendall of Darlington, and Glenn Kendall of Darlington; very special friends: The Drozdowicz Families, Dave, Dan, Cheryl, Adam, Haley (Abbey Shaw), and Chelsea (BJ) Hanewall; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; mother and stepfather, Mary and Joe Kendall; sister, Sally (Ken) Burgess, and brother, Pat Kendall.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 3414 Woodhall Drive, Janesville, with Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 am on Friday at the church.
