Mary Evelyn Frey, age 97, of Monroe, died on Monday, June 26, 2017 at her home. She was born on June 14, 1920, in DePere, WI, the daughter of Edward and Jeanette (Neubauer) Walsh.
Mary graduated from DePere High School in 1938 and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Green Bay in 1941.
Mary was a dedicated nurse at the Milwaukee County Children's Hospital where she met her husband.
Mary and William Frey were united in marriage on July 8, 1950 in Fox Lake, WI.
Prior to living in Monroe, Mary and Bill lived in South Bend, IN., from 1950 to 1971, where their children were born and her husband practiced pediatrics.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Monroe.
She enjoyed being a mother and spending time with family.
She is survived by her children, Mary (John F.) Deininger of Waunakee, Dr. John (Kathy) Frey of Monroe, Susan (Ed) Elder of Madison, Betsy (Bill) Randolph of Belle Mead, NJ; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Burton, son, William Edward, sisters, Margaret Thomas and Elizabeth Walsh.
Private funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Waupun, WI. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford, WI.
Memorials may be directed to: Green County Humane Society and Monroe Clinic Hospice.
