MONROE - Leona M. Heise, 95 formerly of Winslow, IL passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the University Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born on November 3, 1918 I Winslow, IL. She was the daughter of Edward and Martha (Heimann) Retzlaff Ruge. Leona graduated from Winslow High School, in Winslow and from the Rockford Beauty School in 1937.
Leona and Vilas Heise were married on July 9, 1966 in Lena, IL at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was a beautician for over 69 plus years, retiring in 2009 then she moved to Monroe, WI. She belonged to the Winslow Senior Citizens Group, and taught Sunday School and junior choir for 23 years.
She is survived by one niece Joyce (John) Pavelec of Friendship, WI and one nephew in-law Keith Miller of Monroe, WI. Great nieces, Vicky (Delbert) DeNure of Argyle, WI. Marcia Miller of Brodhead, and Amanda Pavelec of Madison, WI. Great nephews, Kurtis (Jeanie) Miller of Frienship, WI and Derek (Krista) Pavelec of Friendship. Nine great-great nieces and nephews, Blade Maurer, Seth and Grant Rosheisen, Darrien, Taylor, and Dorissa DeNure, Jarod Miller, Alyssa and Mathew Pavelec and Raylee Pavelec. One step great-great niece, Kimberly Fritz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step father Herman Ruge, husband, Vilas, brother, Lloyd Retzlaff and a brother in infancy, and her niece Shirley Miller.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm., on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Rock Lily Cemetery in Winslow, IL.
