Kenneth C. Elmer, 89, South Milwaukee, formerly of Monroe, died on February 12, 2009, one month before his 90th birthday.
Ken was a sensitive man who channeled his sensitivity to meet the needs of his fellow man. In this vane, he became an effective teacher for 30 years. Ken was a veteran in WWII in England. He served as a Medic with the 364th Fighter Group.
One of the greatest highlights of his life, was his 44 yrs. of marriage with his Welsh wife, Gwenyth, who passed away in 1990. He also enjoyed the 57 years with his only son, David, of South Milwaukee, and previously of Monroe. Also, special to Ken, were David's wife, Donna (Sandleback) and his grandchildren, Jonathan and Amy.
In 1995, Ken married his high-school friend, Anita Rempert Kuhn, who with her three sons, Carl (Janet), Glenn (Christy) and the late Robert (Debra) and their families, made for a second very enjoyable married life.
Kenneth always tried to look on the good side of life and always greeted those that he met with a smile.
In addition to his son, stepsons and their families, he will be greatly missed by other family, including his Elmer cousins, his church families and dear friends.
A Memorial Service celebrating Ken's life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2931 So. Kinnickinnic Ave., Milwaukee.
