John M. Rowin, age 88, of Monroe, died on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on December 6, 1929 in Madison, the son of Archie and Myrtle (Christenson) Rowin.
John and Anna (Gehrke) were united in marriage on May 17, 1947 in McFarland. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year.
John was employed with General Motors in Janesville for 34 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of United Automobile Workers #95.
He enjoyed playing cards, camping, and also spending time with his family. He was known as a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his wife, Anna, of Monroe; children: Beverly Moen of Monroe, Ruth (Robert) Kohn of Monroe, John Rowin of Janesville, Sheryl (James) Thorp of Monroe; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; half-brother, Gary (Barbara) Rowin of Madison; step-brother, Roger (Mary) Rowin of Madison; and step-sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Heller of Delafield.
He is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Esther (Foss) Rowin; 4 grandsons, 2 sisters and four brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE funeral home with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 26th, from 3:00-6:00 P.M., and Tuesday, February 27th, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to: Alzheimer's Association or Pleasant View Nursing Home.
