Joe H. Hendrickson, age 81 of Darlington, WI, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at University Hospital in Madison, WI. He was the son of Raymond and Mary (Graber) Hendrickson. Joe married Mary Bennett on February 5, 1955. During his lifetime Joe was a mechanic, an avid stockcar owner, driver, and promoter. Joe owned his own carpentry business for several years, before working as a cabinet specialist at Wick Lumber in Dubuque, IA.
Joe is survived by his wife: Mary of 54 years; three children: Alan (Deb) Hendrickson of Oregon, WI, Deb (Todd) VanMatre, and Mary Jo (Jim) Torstenson both of Darlington; four grandchildren: Lindsey and Lucas VanMatre and Morgan and Jordan Torstenson; two sisters: Marianna (Glen) Pendleton of Virginia and Margaret Hermanson of Darlington; one brother-in-law: Lee Furrer of Darlington; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Elaine Furrer; and one brother-in-law: Buddy Hermanson.
Joe enjoyed fishing, model trains, football games, and watching Nascar on TV.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Erickson Funeral Home, 508 Park Place in Darlington with Rev. Larry Hakes of Darlington United Methodist Church officiating.
